modrNation: Where are you originally from?

Rob49: I’m originally from New Orleans, the 4th and 9th ward.

modrNation: How did growing up over there influence your music?

Rob49: The everyday life out there is really what inspired me. Also, I don’t think anybody that got big was rapping about how they are from New Orleans.

modrNation: Biggest inspiration, and who/what inspired you to start making music?

Rob49: Probably Lil Wayne, G Herbo, and Future are the rappers that really made me want to start making music.

modrNation: How have those inspirations shaped your rapping?

Rob49: I get the pain side from G Herbo, all the way, because I remember listening to him all day. Future is where I get the lit side of my music.

modrNation: Who do you make music for?

Rob49: I make music for the little ones who want to be swag, and get money. The kids who got some drip, and who are doing what I’m rapping about.

modrNation: With your single Let Me Know with Peezy how would you say this collaboration with Peezy was different from your last record with him?

Rob49: When I did the remix, it was done the same night as Let Me Know. I felt like that was a hit, and he asked me to get on it and I was excited. I wanted to go crazy. For Let Me Know, I was just trying to make a vibe.

modrNation: Hate it or Love it with Dababy was obviously a big collaboration, how was working with Dababy and how he directed the music video?

Rob49: That shit was lit, that’s my dog. One day he hit me and he pulled up on me. We made 2 songs that night, one of them was a trap song, and the other was more of his type of vibe.

modrNation: I see you are about to headline a few shows on your own tour, how are you feeling about that?

Rob49: I’m scared as hell, it’s no one but you. The crowds been crazy, that’s why I’m so scared. There’s no openers, it’s just me. I’ve never had a trash concert, it’s just up and up.

modrNation: What do you think is the most frustrating part of the music industry?

Rob49: I don’t really have any frustrating parts, and I don’t worry about it.

modrNation: With so many artists coming up now, what would you say is the importance of finding your own identity and individuality as an artist and a person?

Rob49: You just gotta keep it in you, Veeze said some stuff about that. Just be you, and always be 100%.

modrNation: Where would you like to be 5 years from now.

Rob49: I just want some kids. THAT’S IT.

modrNation: What’s your next move? Shows, collaborations, etc?

Rob49: Album dropping soon, 4 God II EP. I want to keep it hush until it come out.

modrNation: How was the whole process of working with Lil Baby?

Rob49: It was fun because I didn’t think I could get a Lil Baby feature. I told P (QC Label Executive) I wanted him on the remix and it was so easy. Me and Baby got more stuff in the future.
