Joey Bada$$ Reflects on “Survivors Guilt”

With Joey Bada$$’s next album “2000” coming this month, the sequel to his breakout mixtape “1999” he recently released the final single of the project “Survivors Guilt”. Joey allows listeners to get an inside look of the darkest corners of his mind, as he opens up about his perspective and grieving process on the passing of legendary MC and close childhood friend of Joey, Capital Steez. Joey’s always been known for his one and amazing storytelling skills, but this track truly feels like a one on one conversation with him as he takes you through his relationship with Steelo, and exactly where he feels he started “drowning”.

Joey proceeds to open up about the tragic passing of his cousin Junior B in the second verse. He speaks on the tragedy of passing at a young, and learning to be grateful for the gift of waking up every day. He then ends the track stating

“It took me all this time, just to put it in song

“Because I’m still dealing with the fact my n**gas is gone”

After his amazing debut “1999” and breakout project “ALL-AMERIKKKAN BADA$$” Joey then proceeded to be pretty quiet, releasing a couple singles and one EP, so this is his first time branching back out into a full length concept album. This single run from Joey has given us some of the best tracks of the year and proved that he’s still at the top of the gate, so are sure to check out the latest and final single off “2000”, “Survivors Guilt”.
