Wakai Continues His Run With “7 Hours”
Wrapped in grace, “7 Hours” captures what it means to be genuine, what it means to be assured in oneself, and how both of those feelings are learned from past experience.
Ramraz teams up with Wakai, who coming off his critically lauded To A Dark Boy, delivers an Andre 3000-esque flow jumping from word to word with a finesse and quickness he takes on rarely. He spits bars about smoking weed in Tel Aviv, the people who “cap about the life they are living in” and his reflections on the past, driving in the car fatigued by the fast pace of life. His voice is as gentle as it is sure handed, and is very welcoming to the listener.
On the production side, Ramraz comes through with chilled tones and laid back drums, capturing soulful vibey South California music mixed with the cold, but also soulful Chicago production scene. A subtle synth line plays on top of the chorus and continues in the second verse as well, leaving a surprisingly large impression on the mood of the relaxing beat, bringing it to a triumphant rise as it plays till the end of the second chorus. A computer generated vocal plays in the background for the entirety of the song as well, lending it some warmth and comfortability on top of the playful, non-abrasive drums.
