Dave Coresh Drops New Project “SMOKENMIRRORS”
LA Based Punk Alternative Rock artist Dave Coresh dropped his multifaceted EP tilted “SMOKENMIRRORS”. The project dropped in early September this EP is a bona fide representation of Dave`s artistry that he has built over the last decade of being an artist. Listening through this EP a couple of things stuck out at me as i was deciphering his message. He uses a creative set of notes within his instrumentation to help convey his story of acceptance. When listening through these tracks i felt as if i was listening to the anthem of anime anti- hero. Many anti-heros or people who are considered the villain in tv shows are those who want to be accepted for who they are by society but never got accepted so they turned their backs against it . I felt this anti-hero message once i listened to the first track “Nobody Cares” at around the 1:20 seconds when there is a major shift in BPM and Dave screams “NOBODY CARES” . At that exact moment I felt i was in a mosh pit at a concert and had to scream “NOBODY CARES”. For myself personally the song PYFMB felt like a song that would be used for a sync placement because once it started i envisioned the track being in either the beginning of a midnight club game or in the middle of a fight scene. Each of these tracks had a very creative instrumentation that drew from sounds that you do not hear often in tracks like laser beams, chainsaws. Using this plus ad-libs gives you an experience that you do not experience very often in punk rap. When listening to the whole EP i also get the message of “FUCK YOU” to anyone who has doubted Dave in the past because he is coming out swinging with the way he conveys his message and his creativity on this EP. Everything from what he is doing with his branding (hair, cover art , visuals , stage presence) etc has helped him build the traction that he deserves. I love how he is able to balance the defiant energy in his music with such superb songwriting skills and ambient storytelling. To those reading this if you enjoy artists such as Denzel Curry, JPEG MAFIA and Paris Texas please take your time to go and check out Dave Coresh you will definitely not be disappointed.
