Illusion Hills Releases Catchy New Anthem “bittersweet”
The Orange County collective has been on the rise over the past few years and with the release of their singles “genesis” and “chasm” – 2022 has shown them to be a prominent group. A balance between introspective topics and catchy melodies, they always bring their most compelling music. Accompanied by artists han.irl <3 and Ryan Hall, “bittersweet” is the perfect summer jam.
“I’ve always wanted to be the only girl on a brockhampton ishhhh song with a bunch of boys” han.irl <3 said on Instagram – expressing her desire to work with a boy band. She did just that as her dreamy voice shines through the track and provides extra harmonies and melodies. “bittersweet” is bright as the guitar riffs and percussive elements give the song a casual feeling – reminiscent of something you may have heard before.
Exploring the concept of overthinking and feeling “stuck in your head,” this record serves as a conversation between two people trying to figure out where their relationship stands – a disconnect as one side is trying to make it work while the other wants it to fail. jayastro sings on the chorus
“I just wanna know, what's been keeping you from sleeping? Are you up at three or four? Do I got you overthinking? Know I been through this before, know you looking for a reason To push us off the edge.”
Speaking about the concept of the song and how it came about, jayastro explains;
“The song is about the person that you can’t stop thinking about.”
In addition to the two tracks released earlier this year, “bittersweet” is parallel in terms of quality and tone. Proving the talent and versatility within the group along with their chemistry, this song shows the star potential from the group. There’s a lot more in store for Illusion Hills and they definitely need to be in your rotation.
