Ronnie Rage Switches Realities With His New Project “[anti.vers]”
With the crazy year 2020 was, one great thing that came out of that year was the re-emergence of the genre hyperpop. Influences from hip hop, pop, and dance music; hyperpop gained popularity with the help of artists Trippie Redd, Playboi Carti, and Lil Uzi Vert. Now on the rise, Chicago born and raised artist Ronnie Rage is here to give his take on the sub-genre. If you are unfamiliar with Ronnie Rage, he is a melodic artist that utilizes storytelling to convey his message.
Following up from his first album Born Outside in 2021, Ronnie is continuing to grow his catalog with the release of his sophomore album [anti.vers]. The sophomore album serves as a juxtaposition between Ronnie’s real life experiences and his fascination with the nature of outer space. As you can hear in the atmospheric production, Ronnie uses reverb on his vocals to create an ambient sound that is consistent through the album. Ronnie switches between a lower and higher pitched voice throughout the album to give a good contrast from one flow to another.
Standout singles ONYX, EXODUS, and TIPTOE:SNOTTY NOSE highlight the versatility of Ronnie as he can go from one mood to another. Two of which were released leading up to the album, those being EXODUS and TIPTOE:SNOTTY NOSE both receiving local support from Chicago platforms Lyrical Lemonade, The Ghetto Flower, and These Days. The electronic trap-based production is led by a thumping bass, synths, and 808’s. This 11-track project is a great follow up to his first album and Ronnie Rage is an artist you need in your rotation as he can give you many different vibes.
